What does
Dr Loh do?
Brian Loh, Orthopaedic Surgeon, treats a broad range of orthopaedic conditions; particularly hip conditions in children, sports medicine for adolescents, paediatric foot and ankle conditions, the sequelae of obstetric brachial plexus palsies, as well as complex adult hip reconstruction and replacement.
The different ages and stages of life bring with them different conditions and injuries.
Young children may have congenital or developmental conditions that become more apparent with their rapid growth. Falls from bikes, trampolines and play equipment are regular causes of injuries that need orthopaedic management in this age group.
Adolescents again have a period of rapid growth and change that may bring to light asymmetries and problem with alignment requiring orthopaedic intervention. This is also a time where we see sporting injuries affecting knees and ankles, in particular, as well as fractures.
Adults are not immune to sporting injuries and it’s also a time where the wear and tear of injuries in youth, or from congenital or developmental conditions transitions into osteoarthritis needing orthopaedic care. In the past, there was not the technology to diagnose or treat conditions such as patella instability and some adults may seek treatment for conditions they have been self-managing for a long time.
